Department of Otolaryngology, Sleep Medicine and Upper Airway Reconstructive Surgery, Medical College Wisconsin, Wisconsin, USA Dr Woodson has dual board certification in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Sleep Medicine. He is an internationally recognized expert in Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. He has lectured worldwide on issues related to surgery and sleep medicine. He has served on the Standards of Practice Committee, and Quality and Outcomes working groups for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine; the Program Advisory committee and Sleep disorders committee for the American Academy of Otolaryngology, and the exam committee of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He is past president of the International Surgical Sleep Society and has served on many national and international leadership positions related to sleep and sleep surgery. His primary research interests are upper airway structure/phenotypes and ventilatory function and development of better and less invasive reconstructive airway surgeries including radiofrequency and plasma surgical techniques, transformative methods of palatopharyngoplasty, tongue and hyoid suspension, soft tissue tongue surgery, and cranial nerve upper airway stimulation for sleep apnea. He was the FIERO honor award recipient in 2015 for innovation in education and research in Otolaryngology. He has co-edited books on sleep apnea “Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea 3rd Ed” and “Advanced Techniques in Surgery of Sleep Apnea”. He has published over 150 manuscripts, peer reviewed articles and book chapters.
